MD, at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, where he got his surgical and orthopaedic training. In 1987, at the same University he was appointed Professor of Traumatology. In 2000, he moved to the Rome University of Movement Science (IUSM). In 2000, he received the honoris causa Degree in Medicine at University of Pleven (Bulgaria). Founding member of European Society of Knee and Arthroscopy (ESSKA) of the Italian Society of Arthroscopy (SIA), of the Italian Society of Sports Traumatology. Board member of  several national and international scientific societies. From 1988 to 2000 he was the chairman of the Educational Committee of ESSKA. Member of the Editorial Board of international scientific journals (Arthroscopy J, Sports Exercise and Injury, Knee Surgery Sports Knee Arthroscopy J, Archives Orthopaedic and Traumatology, and Journal Orthopaedic Science). Orthopaedic Consultant for a variety of sport and soccer teams in Italy. He published the first Italian book of knee arthroscopic surgery and published about 52 articles in peer reviewed periodicals and 38 in other journals covering mainly knee surgery and arthroscopy of knee and other joints. He edited two books and published several chapters in international books. Additionally, he has delivered several presentations at national and international conferences.
