vitaliAlessandra Vitali is specialised in teaching Italian to foreigners. She is also involved in teacher training and the creation of Italian L2 multi-media teaching materials. She is also the author of a number of articles about Italian L2 teaching/learning.
In the area of Second language teaching she is particularly interested in long-distance learning in new technologies and multi-media communication. In fact, for some years she has been working on an e-learning project for the teaching and learning of L2 Italian language and culture. She is the author of the beginner-level course “My course is e-Italian”, and has written a number of units for the EU project “CMC_E, Communicating in Multilingual Contexts meets the Enterprises” and the University of Roma Tre Linguistic Centre-sponsored project “CampusOne” (where she also worked from 1995-2006). As part of these project she was also involved in piloting the units as part of an Italian L2 e-learning platform. Her research activities also include evaluation and computerised testing. She is currently a research fellow at the Linguistic Centre, University of Rome, Foro Italico, where she is working on Italian for special purposes in sports science.
In collaboration with the Centre for Life-long learning at Foro Italico she has taught Italian to non-EU children adopting innovative teaching modules based on an intercultural approach to L2 Italian learning. Moreover, she has taught Italian L2 to foreign students enrolled in the European Masters (MS in Health and Physical Science) at University of Rome, Foro Italico, since 2004.
From 1999 to 2004 she taught Italian L2 at the University of Rome, La Sapienza, organized by the Centre for International programmes.
